Fun Football Match raises €460 for Sama (from the Carlow Nationalist 4.4.17)

A Special charity soccer match at Carlow College last Wednesday raised €460 for Sama, a young boy with a rare genetic skin disorder. Sama has a thickened skin which grows 200% faster than normal and was the guest of honour alongside his classmates from the Educate Together School in Carlow. An All-Star Team made up of students and staff  from Carlow College took on the college’s crack first 11. Commenting afterwards, organiser of the event, Catering Manager, Julie Lyons thanked everybody who volunteered or helped out, the supporters and everyone who contributed something to the cause. She also expressed her gratitude to the College President, Fr. Conn O’Maoldhomhnaigh for supporting the event. She said that ‘without his support and guidance, the event simply would not have been able to go ahead.’ Finally, Julie said guest of honour, Sama ‘was so thrilled to be here’ and that ‘he and his class mates thoroughly enjoyed their day.’
